Astrology dictionary section B

BEHOLDING SIGNS

Beholding signs are pairs of signs that have the same declination. They are Aries and Virgo; Taurus and Leo; Gemini and Cancer; Libra and Pisces; Scorpio and Aquarius; Sagittarius and Capricorn.

BENEFIC

Benefic is a term used to describe a celestial body that has a positive and harmonious influence.

BESTIAL SIGNS

Bestial signs are represented by animals; such as Aries which is represented by the ram.

BICORPOREAL SIGNS

Bicorporeal signs are "double bodied". They are Gemini (twins), Sagittarius (centaur which is part man part horse) and Pisces (two fishes).

BLACK MOON

A Black Moon can be New Moon version of a Blue Moon. There are three types of Black Moon. The first type occurs when a month is missing a New or Full Moon, which can only happen in February as the lunar synodic period is 29.5 days. The second type occurs in a month that has two New Moons, which can't happen in February. The third type occurs as the third New Moon in a season that has four New Moons. Each season is defined as spring, summer, autumn and winter with the boundaries at the equinoxes and solstices.

BLUE MOON 

A term used for the second Full Moon in the same calendar month.

BOREAL SIGNS

Boreal signs are the six signs in the Northern hemisphere which are Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo and Virgo.
